Melton Mowbray Muay Thai event – 1st December 2007

NOMIS I.T Ltd were proud to sponsor the Melton Assassins at their home town venue King Edward VII Sarson centre. The event started in a somewhat subdued fashion owing to an upset with the schedule (Elias Dexter and Aaron did not fight) so there were demo fights involving boy matched to girl, tall matched to short and so on. But despite that, very entertaining none the less.

To my mind, all of the fights involving the Black Widows were quality stuff in particular the fight with Nathan Deans (Widows) against Karl Rainbow (Wutan) and Irfan Chouhan (Widows) against Matt Andrews (Assassins) with a difficult decision being made in Matt Andrews favour.

The Midland Title fight was won by Aston Grewcock on a stoppage and the European Junior title fight between Thai Barlow and Tita Morkunas being won by the crowd favourite Thai Barlow on a stoppage. Two very good fights.

The English then took on the Polish team and to be honest, the Polish team, despite vigorous support from the small Polish contingent, were outclassed the entire night. All the fights were good of course but of those that stood out were Joanna Bojarska (Poland) vs Georgina Wright (Assassins) with Gerogina taking the victory for the Assassins on a stoppage. Anna Sikora (Poland) vs Iman (Assassins) with the obligatory winner in the form of Iman in what was a very bruising fight for Anna Sikora eventually ending in a stoppage (not fit to continue).

Michael Robinsons fight with Marcin Trzasko (Poland) ended very quickly (second round I think) when the boxing battle did not go Marcin’s way.  A very decisive knockout win for Michael (Assassins).

In all, an excellent night, reasonably priced drinks, I didn’t order any food so couldn’t tell you what that was like but very well done once again to the Assassins team!
